Please bring items to church by 15th December!
Add a few extra items to your Christmas list, as St George’s will be continuing its annual tradition of donating Christmas gifts to the people served by the Salvation Army in Barcelona. As in years past, St George’s aims to prepare at least 100 gift sets. To make the job easier, instead of gift-wrapped shoeboxes, you can buy a festive gift bag, which you simply need to fill with items from the list below.
Please select at least one item from each category. Feel free to expand on these suggestions.
Something warm: scarf, gloves, hat
Something useful: toiletries, shampoo, shower gel, soap, deodorant, razors, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, washcloth, tissues
Something festive: turrón, chocolate, sweets (non-alcoholic)
Something extra: cologne/perfume, hand cream/moisturiser, notebook, pen, nail file, clippers, jewellery, playing cards
Some people like to include a greeting card. Remember to write it in Spanish.
Tie a label on the bag and clearly mark it HOMBRE or MUJER.
You can also donate toys in a separate bag, marked for NIÑO or NIÑA.
If you are unable to fill an entire bag yourself, don’t worry, just bring it half-filled and we will top it up. Or you can simply donate a few of the items, which we will redistribute among the other bags. Perhaps you prefer to donate some money to help us purchase items. We are grateful for any and all help.
Many families make bags at home with their children, using it as an opportunity to teach them that not everyone is as fortunate, and this is a good way of doing something special for someone else at Christmas.
We will collect the bags at church for delivery to the Salvation Army in time for Christmas.
Thank you all in advance!
