Changing Churchwardens

Changing Churchwardens

Following St George’s Annual Church Meeting (ACM) held on 28th April 2019, former churchwardens Alison Keene and Jimmy Dress expressed their thanks for two gratifying years working together.

“We have been blessed to work with John and Debbie in growing the spiritual initiatives in the church, and to have been part of a dedicated church council,” they wrote.

They highlighted these initiatives:

  • meeting once a month to pray and discuss items that need addressing in the church.
  • the need to maintain and sometimes repair the church building and the residential flats above, including problems with humidity and the stained glass window.
  • consolidating the weekly rotation schedule, so that at least one warden is present each Sunday to help with the service set-up and clean-up, and to lend a hand to the different groups responsible for ensuring a good worship-and-fellowship experience.
  • developing new policies and best practices to manage the church and its resources.

Now, they have passed the baton to Sharon Blackford and Ian Brooks to be the next churchwardens.

“We are convinced that their enthusiasm, dedication and ideas will continue to grow St George’s even further. Please join us in welcoming them and praying for their success. And please support them in practical ways to ensure the sabbatical period goes smoothly.”
