Add a few extra items to your Christmas list, as St George’s will be continuing its annual tradition of donating Christmas gifts to needy people in Barcelona, including those served by the Salvation Army as well as the Mother’s Union.
The last Sunday deadline to bring donations/bags to church was 8th December (though you can still drop items at church throughout the week, until midday on Friday 13th December).
You simply need to buy a festive gift bag and fill it with items from the list below. (If you are unable to fill an entire bag yourself, don’t worry, just bring it half-filled and we will top it up.)
Something warm: scarf, gloves, hat
Something useful: toiletries, shampoo, shower gel, soap, deodorant, razors, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, washcloth, tissues
Something festive: turrón, chocolate, sweets (non-alcoholic)
Something extra: cologne/perfume, hand cream/moisturiser, notebook, pen, nail file, clippers, jewellery, playing cards
Some people like to include a greeting card. Remember to write it in Spanish.
Alternatively, you can donate money so the volunteers can purchase any missing items and top up the bags.
Many families make bags at home with their children, using it as an opportunity to teach them that not everyone is as fortunate, and this is a good way of doing something special for someone else at Christmas.
We will collect the bags at church for delivery in time for Christmas.
Thank you all in advance! We are grateful for any and all help!
