Saturday, 17th September 2022, from noontime onward
The annual church picnic, held since 1974, is an excellent way to get to know people better and enjoy the outdoors and a swim. It is held in the spacious garden of Eleanor and John Copestake, long-term members of St George’s Barcelona.
Who’s invited: Anyone is welcome who would like to meet other English-speaking people, not necessarily church people, in informal surroundings. Specially recommended for newcomers. People from our associated churches are all welcome: Barcelona, Andorra, Sabadell, Costa Brava.
Children of all ages are most welcome, though parents are responsible for their children’s enjoyment and safety, especially in and around the swimming pool.
Water, soft drinks, red country wine and “pa amb tomàquet” are provided, but please bring your own picnic lunch, drinking vessels and swimwear.
RVSP: If you plan to come, and if you need or can offer a lift, please sign up at church, email the church office, or let the Chaplain know by emailing chaplainbcn@gmail.com or via WhatsApp on 630810991.

DIRECTIONS
Via Autopista AP7: Exit 10, Hostalric. Leaving tollgate, take first right, before crossing bridge, BV5122, signed Tordera. Continue for 9 km. At entrance to village (roundabout with flowers) turn right up hill. The road bears right, signed Tanatori. Keep straight on, zigzag round children’s playground and on to large roundabout with standing stones. Take first exit to Tanatori. Can Manel is the last house on the right past the cemetery. N.B. Google tells you that no. 46 is earlier, at junction with Unamuno. It is NOT!
Via C-32 and N-II (northbound & southbound): At Km. 680.5, roundabout (with trees and shrubs), turn to Tordera. At next roundabout (with olive tree), take third exit, continue almost to the “castle”, turn right and continue without deviation for approx. 1 km to large roundabout with standing stones, take second exit to Tanatori. Can Manel is the last house on the right, past the cemetery. N.B. Google tells you that no. 46 is earlier, at junction with Unamuno. It is NOT!
Parking: Please note there is no parking space within the property. You should find safe space, either before Can Manel in the area in front of the cemetery, or just past Can Manel in the street parking at the Tanatori.
By train: Consult RENFE for times as they are subject to change. RENFE Cercanias/Rodalies R1 direction Maçanet. Trains leave Plaça Catalunya station at 10am or 11am arriving in Tordera 1.5 hours later. From Sants they are 5 minutes earlier and Arc de Triomf 3 minutes later. The 10am train (arriving 11:28am) will be met. Otherwise, you may find a bus in the station forecourt. Ask the driver for Can Manel (just before the Tanatori) and he will probably stop at the door. If not, it is a short walk back to the house.
Note: There is also a Witty Walk scheduled for that morning, and finishing at the Copestakes’ home. Email wittywalkers@gmail.com to sign up for the walk or find out more.
