St George’s Welcomes New Youth Worker
St George’s looks forward to welcoming Jennie Hebson in September 2019 to start in her role as the church’s new youth worker.
During the recruitment process, the church received applications from three strong candidates. Jennie stood out because of her bubbly personality and infectious enthusiasm for youth work.
Although only 20, she has already gained considerable experience as an intern in the church where she grew up in the UK, through outreach work in her local community, and also by taking part in international youth programmes in France, Ethiopia, the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
Her discipleship training at YWAM combined a programme of in-depth Bible study with applied outreach work, teaching young people how to study the Bible.
She is a keen linguist – fluent in Spanish and French, and keen to learn Catalan.
What came across in the interview process was her sense of fun, her creativity and her passion for youth work.
Below she introduces herself:
Hello, I’m Jennie and I’m from the UK. I’m really excited to get to know you in September, to grow in Christ alongside you, and to reach out to others together.
I’ve spent the last 18 months with YWAM (Youth With A Mission), an international mission organisation, where I’ve had the privilege of studying God’s Word and going to places like Haiti and Ethiopia to share the Good News of Christ.
Having had some amazing women and men of God helping me to grow in Him, I feel honoured to now work with your young people as you navigate growing up in the way of Jesus.
I grew up in church, too, and whilst it’s really amazing to have a Christian family around you, I know it’s not always easy.
I pray that together we will be able to seek God’s desire for these years of your life and that you will come to a greater knowledge and love of Him. I know that God has amazing things in store for each one of you, and I’m looking forward to walking alongside you and seeing where God leads you.
I’ll be praying for you all and I can’t wait to meet you!
