Youth Work Kicks Off
St George’s welcomes Jennie Hebson as the church’s new youth worker.
She comes with considerable experience, including taking part in international youth programmes in France, Ethiopia, the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
“At St George’s we really value our young people and aim to teach them what it looks like to follow Jesus in every area of life,” she says. “This year during the Sunday morning service times, we are meeting as a youth group to look at an overview of the Bible, understanding the big-picture story of the Bible, how it all fits together, and what that means for us today.”
In addition, Jennie will be leading a youth group on Friday evenings, every two weeks, “to disciple the youth so that they are able to live out their faith practically, as well as socialise, build community and have a lot of fun!”
“Everyone aged 11-18 is welcome and we can’t wait to see you!”
Some background on Jennie (in her own words):
Hello, I’m Jennie and I’m from the UK. I’m really excited to grow in Christ alongside you and to reach out to others together.
Before joining St George’s, I was with YWAM (Youth With A Mission), an international mission organisation, where I had the privilege of studying God’s Word and going to places like Haiti and Ethiopia to share the Good News of Christ.
Having had some amazing women and men of God helping me to grow in Him, I feel honoured to now work with St George’s young people as they navigate growing up in the way of Jesus.
I grew up in church, too, and whilst it’s really amazing to have a Christian family around you, I know it’s not always easy.
I pray that together we will be able to seek God’s desire for these years and that we will come to a greater knowledge and love of Him.
